BIOGRAPHY

I began my writing career –– like scores of novelists –– writing advertising copy.

Some novelists look down on that sort of background. Personally, I can't think of better training for the writing of fiction than advertising.

My first novel, THE AUGUST STRANGERS, was published in 1980 in hardcover by The Dial Press, and in paperback, by Berkley. It was condensed in Cosmopolitan Magazine; and was optioned for possible filming many times. Three screenplay versions of the book were written, however, no film was ever made.

Now, after many years working in the advertising industry, I can finally afford the luxury of writing full time.

My latest novel, THE HITLER ERROR, is my second debut.

Over the years, THE AUGUST STRANGERS, went out of print. So I decided to re-publish it at the same time as my new novel.

I feel strongly that the story of the August family, and the challenges they face, is as relevant today, as it was when the book was first published.

Another book of mine, KLANDESTINED, was published by Pisani Press. It is a book of cartoons that I both wrote and illustrated. It can occasionally be found by scouring used books websites on the internet, or rummaging through dumpsters.

I am now happy to announce that a new book of mine is coming out in October, 2007. PIMP MY WALKER is a collection of humorous haiku poems, all about the struggle of growing old. I both wrote and illustrated this little book and I think you will enjoy reading it, as well as giving copies as gifts to all your friends.

My wife Janet and I have an active interest in theater and both sit on the boards of various Manhattan theater groups.

We divide our time between our homes in Manhattan and London.

I am currently working on a third novel, a children's book, a play, a cartoon book, a time machine and a knotty pine rumpus room.

Haiku, humor, old age, middle age, poetry
Pimp My Walker
Pimp My Walker is brimming with 60 Haiku poems that celebrate the irony, the unhappiness, the rewards, and the comical aspects of growing old.
